Hey Melissa, How are you and hope you are feeling just nifty. Very good websites. I have printed the info. You may or may not know that I am scheduled for gallbladder surgery June 1 here in town with the surgeon O'Reilly. He is not convinced the fundo is for me yet. I have failed thus far to prove myself as a candidate due to normal ph/manom. I have already been in touch with the Mayo in Jacksonville. Problem there is no bilitec. I am pretty sure I am going to need that test bec. my reflux seems to not respond to ppi. Going to try Nexium next. Have been really miserable with throat spasm, laryngitis last week, and all kinds of radiant pain under arms, throat, gums, even forehead. Sometimes I think that there is more to this than reflux. You prob. know my stomach empties slow. I would be able to get a great workup at the Mayo in Jacksonville (and go to the beach at the same time) if only they had the bilitec probe. I really need to figure out what to do next. My gi has no fire lit under her to do anything to help me out. My surgeon wants me to see Castell in Philly , who is an excellent gi and has the bilitec. This Mayo surgeon looks top notch, and I also see that he has published regarding the LPPF (LAP PARTIAL POSTERIOR FUNDO) that my surgeon here seems to prefer. The question for me is: Do I need a fundo? Do I have pathological reflux? Or it is possible that this looks like a reflux problem but is really some kind of muscle or nerve disease (ms, sclerderma - these are some of the things I have been looking into.) I seem right now to be having more throat spasms , pain, and just a feeling like an internal vomit ( I know that sounds weird - but there is just a lot of pressure where it feels like stuff is pushing up) NO HEARTBURN. Had a bit of heartburn the first week I was off ppis. Took tums, it worked great. Melissa I don't know what the heck is going on with me and neither does my gi. Need a new gi, a new workup and planning a trial with Nexium over the next few days. My gi wanted me to take reglan as my big answer to all my problems, but I don't want to take it. I fasted a couple days, liquid diet, still had the reflux. but no heartburn. ANYWAY SO DARN FRUSTRATED. Need to pray heavily to figure out who to go to next. I have printed info from the Mayo website to show my husband. If they had bilitec there - I'd go in a New York minute. Concerned that when I get there, they may still not be able to figure out what is happening to me if they don't have that probe. Castell has it in Philly, someone in Alabama - not going there. AND USC has it. Don't think anyone else. Quite frankly, I don't want the surgery if it is not going to solve the problem that is causing all my symptoms. Need to call Mayo and see if their tests provide a way to find out if bile is in the stomach. If its in the stomach, I guess it hardly matters to have bilitec, bec. I'm sure whatever is in the stomach is getting into the esoph. So sure there is something beside acid bec. symptoms are so unusual and prevacid did not relieve well. Hey Melissa, what do you know or think about doing a gallbladder flush? You seem to know alot about all this gi stuff.

The good thing about going to Mayo is that if it turns out this is not just reflux, but some other illness causing reflux - they could probably figure it out and have someone there to do those screenings. If I learned I had bile reflux as the major problem leading to acid supersecretion, then it seems like the bile would have to be diverted. I saw that Hinder also deals with that in one of his writings. But I am not anxious for that surgery for sure. The thing is - I am getting to that point where I just want the answers - WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THERE AND WHY?

THANKS MELISSA for all your info. I appreciate how much you try to help all of us. I need to come up with a course of action that gives me the best chance for a proper diagnosis of whatever this problem really is. Any comments are welcome from you as always...

Thanks and glad you are good... If you want to email me: stan1234@bellsouth.net
