I was diagnosed with Gerd a few years ago after waking up several times a night gasping for breath. Was told post nasal drip until an allergist suggested that instead of the drip going down my throat and cutting off my air, maybe theres reflux coming up my throat & cutting off the air. I watch what I eat because things like sauce and chocolate bother me. Also laying down after I eat causes breathing problems. But for over a year now my biggest problem is after swallowing food it seems to get stuck in the middle of my chest and causes intense pain for a few seconds until it goes down. Anyone get this & is this serious? One doctor said I was just swallowing air. I also have a Hiatal Hernia.
