Hey Genny- They usually say that normal enzyme level and clean MRI should rule out chronic pancreatitis. Ask for an endoscopic ultrasound. This is like an endoscopy but they can do a close ultrasound on your pancreas. That is the best test next to the ERCP. I am sure you have read all the stuff on the internet on pancreatitis. I had it and it found nothing. They told me that ERCPs only have a 5% incidence of pancreatitis. Don't believe them. If you do have chronic pancreatitis they should have seen some scaring on the MRI. The endoscopic ultrasound is a better test for it. Have that done before you jump to any conclusions. Also....chronic pancreatitis is caused by trauma...alchohol abuse....acute pancreatitis attack....Hope this helps a little.
