I had the fundo surgery in March. THe surgery was on Friday and I left the hosptial SUnday morning. At least stay in the hospital one night. Best place to get pain meds if needed. I have nausea associated with the anethesia, so I needed meds for that. I could have gone home on Saturday but opted for another day on IV. I had some difficulties swallowing the first few days, so I thought it would be good to stay on an IV for another night.
My surgery turn out excellent. I can eat anything that I want with no GERD and no Meds. I did not have complications with eating like some do, in fact I was eating steak one week later. My point is that I had an exteremely successful surgery based on the results and the recovery, but I could not have gone home the same day.
Good luck.
