Jean, I had the fundo, gall bladder removed and hiatal hernia repair all at the same time. I lived 40 miles from the hospital and no surgeon in my area did this type of surgery so the plan was for me to stay overnight. I ended up having a hard time with the anesthesia and stayed 2 nights. I just couldn't shake it off. I have one of the world's worst HMO's and they had no problem getting an extra day authorized. I could not even lift my head off the pillow it hurt so bad. I had no trouble with moving around and the first night I even slept on my side. I also live alone and I, by choice stayed by myself from the beginning. I do have very good neighbors I could call on and a Brother just 5 minutes away. I am very independent and just didn't want anyone fussing over me. I'm a bad patient and most of the time wanted to be left alone. The surgery itself was not at all as bad as I had expected from what people had told me. Good Luck and try not to worry!
