hello everyone- I just found this site and I have to say it's a godsend. I've been suffering miserably from GERD for about 7 years (I'm 32) and it is so nice to finally find that I'm not alone in my symptoms. The media portray GERD symptoms to be heartburn, and that's basically it. They don't mention the feeling of having a knife stuck through your gut right under your breastbone, or the constant belching, bloating, blah blah blah. Anyway--had my gallbladder out which was probably a waste of time, took Prevacid for 3 years which finally stopped working, am now on Nexium which (FYI) is a little better and seems to have fewer side effects on the rest of my digestive system. However, I am scheduled for a lap nissen the day after Labor Day because my esophagitis does not seem to want to heal. Am aware of the pros and cons...would love to hear a few success stories as I am completely nervous and wondering if I'm making the right decision. If anyone has anything to share, I'd really appreciate it. My best to everyone!!!
