Ken:
I may be in a similar situation. I had a Nissen surgery three weeks ago today. I feel that the surgery has taken care of the reflux I have had. However, the belching problem is still there although very very mild compared to pre-surgery.
The problem is that I feel like my upper esophagus is occassionally irritated. Sometimes in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon. I know that I still have a long way to go to be completely recovered from the surgery. However, I am beginning to doubt if the problem will ever go away.
I have so far not tried anything to solve the problem. However, I once read on this bulletin board that a herbal supplement called Boswellia can help. I will buy it today and try it.
Let us know what your doctor says. I wish you all the best.
