Hi Laurie,
I had a lap Nissen in March of 2000, and I'm very pleased with the results. I was on 60mg of Prevacid/day before surgery, but I need none now. My diet was quite restricted (read BORING and BLAND) and now consists of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I want whenever I want it (I am a little piggy wiggy of an eater although I'm only 125lbs or so)--yippee! No more chest pain, shortness of breath, or waking up in the middle of the night coughing. Goodbye to the painkillers too! And as much as I like my pharmacist, I no longer have to see him on a weekly basis, and nor is my purse like a mobile pharmacy anymore either.
Btw, where are you having your surgery done and by whom? I think it's good to give details here, so that others can learn which surgeons/hospitals might best suit their needs.
