Hey Ken, I have had pain in my throat , not a sore throat for months. Before my gallbladder operation, I thought it was referred pain from the gallbladder. But it unfortunately recurred after surgery. I saw one ent, who blew me off. Then I decided to see another, which I just did. He put a flexible tube up my nose, and saw the problem. The back of your tongue has lymphoid tissue which are the lingual tonsils. Mine are inflamed, have a low grade infection. He is treating me with augmentin. What remains to be seen is why I have this. Is is from reflux, which two ph/manometry tests say I do not have!!! Or is it from post nasal drip and deviated septum problems that I have? Also on that side I have two wisdom teeth which are coming out today because they have been causing problems on and off, so that is another poss. cause. Anyway, it is possible that this pain you have is a similar problem to mine. See a good ent who will examine thoroughly.
