Just curious to take a poll of this: How many folks don't really have heartburn, at least not anything that is bad enough it would send them to the doc.?? If I am off all meds, I mean nothing, I have no heartburn or once in a blue moon. What I do have on and off is the throatburn during the day. And at nite, I must be having reflux which bathes the esoph because I have esophagitis. When I withdraw from Nexium, I have heartburn for one day (hypersecretion??) What exactly do you do when meds make you feel worse, but you have esophagitis that needs to be resolved, and you are not a candidate for surgery due to ph tests? ANYBODY'S COMMENTS WELCOME. I should also state I tested neg for celiac and h-pylori.

I'm really trying to avoid going back on prescription medication, that's one of the major reasons I had the fundo. I've tried changing my diet, and recently began using pepperment oil tablets which seemed to help a bit for awhile but the effects seemed to have worn off.
The problem definitely began for me following the Nissen. The surgeon has continued to tell me to be patient, that it can take away for the gas bloat to go away, but it's been almost a year now without getting much better. It seems like every time I see him he extends the time period he says this can take to go away!
So I have an appointment with a new GI doc coming up and I will ask him about the various medication choices (i.e. antibiotics, levsin, elavil, etc). It's just so frustrating to continue to have problems after enduring the surgery. I can certainly understand the thought of wanting to reverse it.
