I have been on a trip for 11 days which I would not wish on my worst enemy. Sick away from home is the pitts plus trying to visit 7 disfunctional children does nothing to help GERD. Anyway, first day back I headed to Emory Clinic for visit with my Surgeon which I had scheduled before my trip thank goodness. They were very far behind and put me with new Doc. However, after hearing my symptoms he did go and get my Surgeon to confir. Dr. Smith did listen and took his time and was very disappointed that I was having such pain almost 2 months post op. My throat burns all the time and some pain in chest. This is not the pain of eating too fast or too much. I have learned to handle that. This is burning pain. The first doctor yesterday did look at my throat and said that it was red. (My ENT says I am still refluxing) so I am now off protonix because I could not tell it helped and will have another barrium swallow test in 10 days. They also have me scheduled for gastro emptying test which I never had before, and endo. My surgeon says he is doing the endo because he wants to see if the wrap is all right. He asked me if I had moved any pianos as someone loosing the wrap this soon is very unusual for his patients. I don't even have a piano! He is not convinced that it is actually reflux that is causing my throat pain. These test will show us which direction to go. He did say that I might have to have another operation. When I sighed he said not to worry ahead of time, we have to find out what we are dealing with. Until then I will just live with the pain. It is really bad when you don't even want to return to your kids for Xmas because you can't stand the sented candles, perfume, or the smell of bubble bath from your grandkids. Oh well, it could be worse, I could be flat on my back, oh yea, if you are ever in a motel and need to raise the bed, take the drawers out of the dresser and put them under the mattress. Better than nothing. Later everyone.
