Oh yes, Dr. Smith has done this operation many many times. He came with the very best recommendations. I am very pleased that he does want to get to the bottom of this. He did not stall, make excuses or discourage me. He told me up front that the success rate for me would be about 85%, even when the other doctors said 90%. He did mention "rebound" as a cause for some to have refulx after surgery but only test of time will lead him to think that. On a prior visit he did mention that people with fibromyalgia have increased sense of pain. I am familiar with that information dealing with substance P a neurotransmittor of pain to the brain. He just wants to look at the wrap himself to make sure it is still in place before we go off on some other route. I know Robin went to Emory but our cases are different as each on the board. I am much older, female, and have other conditions. As an example of our differences, Robin is on meds for gas and associated pain, where I have never had that problem. The only gas that I had trouble with was the induced gas into the belly for the proceedure. It gave me fits. I did lift a large potted plant but I am so weak from arthritis and fibromyalgia I doubt that I could lift anything heavy enough to hurt even today. We talked about the delayed emptying of the stomach or a possible section of the stomach that might be holding contents and causing extra acid. In that case they would work to correct that condition. I swore that I would not let anyone put another tube down my throat because that is when I really started having problems last Feb. I told Dr Smith that and that is why he wants to do it not a gastro. So, I changed my mind. I am just glad that he is not "writing me off" like one gastro did. Oh yes, I am a taurus. You know, the bull. I don't give up easily. I want to live a better life. I worked too hard to get to this point to give up now. And I don't want to start over with a new doctor. Make any sense? Thanks for the input. Lee
