Hi all,

I am 29 years old. I am suffering from heartburn for the past 18 months. I have had 2 endoscopy exams and nothing serious has been diagnosed. But the diagnosis on both occasions was chronic esophagitis. In addition to that, during the first endoscopy, a small hiatus hernia was mentioned in my report.

My doctor has put me on Nexium(40 mg), which I take on a daily basis. My problem is, even with the medication I have a burning sensation in the throat every morning when I wake up from sleep. I have tried elevating the bed, but doesn't help much.

Should I consider having a surgery for heartburn?

Thanks in advance, Steve
