I'm 44 years old. It's now about 2 weeks after the surgery. The first day after the surgery, I felt great. THEN things went downhill. I started with these attacks of severe nausea. I was re-admitted to the hospital 2 days afterwards to try to get this under control and they also gave me IV therapy to prevent dehydration. I was discharged but still had no relief of this nausea. It prevents me from drinking the amount of liquids I need. On Tuesday, the doctor told me he thought my ring was too tight and he brought me back into the hospital and stretched it out. I am back home and I am able to eat now and drink more BUT this severe nausea still persists. He prescribed Ativan and Compazine for this. He stated the surgery went perfectly and states this nausea is something I will have to "put up" with. He stated that he has done hundreds of this type of surgery and I am the only one with this symptom. He states that I am nervous and depressed. Yes, I am anxious because of the severe nausea, but I feel these symptoms come after I start having the nausea (not before). Since the surgery, I am tired which is to be expected. I feel better when I lie down. I want some relief from this nausea. Does anyone out there know what I'm going through. Everyone INCLUDING the doctor thinks I should just "snap out of it!" I can't continue this way. IF I have to start seeking out another doctor to help with this nausea, which type of doctor should I go to? I welcome your insight.
