Hey Lisa!

Yes, about seven years ago I was on amytriptyline(Elavil )---very low dose(50 mg I think) for menopausal symptoms and "stress"...I remember not having throat symptoms or irritable bowel when on it, but I went off of it after about 6 months...... I am considering it again.

This summer I went on Paxil as an experiment with muscle tension and my throat problems and had a terrible time - was on it only a month and went off cold turkey and went through nightmare withdrawal for three weeks - this, after ONE month on the stupid stuff.

So now I am cautious about these drugs, but I will consider the elavil again. When I look at my journals, I had reflux/voice problems for about 3 years, then went on Elavil and guess what-no problems for 1 1/2 years! But I dunno if ultimately it attributed to a weakening of the LES, as I have read it can do that.....sigh..

What about you? Do you feel better on/off anxiety meds? I know that a great deal of us on the board are plagued with anxiety and hypersensitivity. I think it's cause we're special!

Take care
