I must have surgery soon: Can anyone recommend a good fundo surgeon in the U.S.?

Hi. I’ve decided to have fundo surgery after a period of deliberation (and after some pretty awful, long-term GERD symptoms), and I’m wondering if anyone out there can refer me to a great laparoscopic fundo surgeon. I already got a very helpful reply concerning this from Nick, but the surgeons he mentioned aren’t on my health plan. I’ll choose an out-of-network surgeon and pay higher costs if there’s no other choice, but I’d prefer not to. So, does anyone know of a great fundo surgeon? (I’ll check the surgeon’s name against a list of surgeons covered by my plan—a national plan called “one health plan.”) I live in the New York/New Jersey area, but am looking for referrals to an excellent surgeon ANYWHERE in the U.S. I have to widen my geographical scope to find someone who is both talented and on my plan. The surgeon you mention doesn’t necessarily have to be on “one health plan”—though of course that would be ideal. (I’m looking for referrals because, despite the relatively high success rates of the surgery, I’ve heard a couple of nightmare stories from people who got bad surgeons and had to go elsewhere for revisionary surgeries.) Any info—surgeons, resources for locating surgeons, etc.—would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to respond here or to email me directly at dustinwilliam@hotmail.com. Thanks very much for taking the time to consider my question. —Dustin
