Just because you have gastritis, esophagitis and a small hernia, does NOT mean you have GERD. Gastritis is a TOTALLY different diagnosis. Anyone can have esophagitis and again, it doesn't mean it's GERD. Too much smoking will cause esophagitis, drinking alcohol will cause esophagitis. Having HP will cause esophagitis. I, like I said, had the exact same diagnosis, and the GI doctor said that it had nothing to do with GERD. At that time, it had to do with helicobacter pylori. Keep pushing. If you have to, travel for a good doctor, but don't settle!
