If someone had esophagitis and it was caused by refluxing of something they were allergic to and they eliminated that item wouldn't the esophagitis heal on its own. I'm curious because some people have inflamation of the esophagus, make lifestyle changes and are only on the ppi for say two months and then can get off the ppi. The ppi is only to stop the acid in the reflux. It does not have any other healing properties in it to heal the esophagus. Any comments. Thanks, Michelle S.
