I've had GERD for about 5 years. In that time I also had a few bad (very bad) life events that with the combination of these brought me to being diagnosed as having General Anxiety Disorder.

After traveling back and forth to the ER 4 times thinking I was dying of a heart attack or something equally as terrifying, I'm here to testify that the endoscopy, while under sedation, was NOTHING in comparison to the GERD symptoms I used to go through.

I didn't even ask what the GI was going to use because I didn't care. Even if I had an allergic reaction, I knew that being at a hospital was the BEST PLACE to be if that happened. Nothing happened except a bit of a fainting spell when they applied the I.V. BIG DEAL! I'm soooooo glad I wasn't "aware" of what was going on. The idea of doing that wide awake would totally freak me out!

Takes all kinds I guess, go figure!

Take it EASY.
