I am not sure if chemically enzymes actually break down foods or if they are the keys that unlock the break down cycle... been a long time since college anatomy and physiology for sure... but stil I would caution adding enzymes... some are for fats, some for proteins and some for carbohydrates as I recall and..... if you are having problems with acid and/or bile... digestive juices and substances which break down foods... then are you sure you want to add more??? Nutritionally I understand enzymes are helpful in breaking down foods properly so the digestive track can absorb them better and that's great -- just be careful you don't end up digesting your gullet in the process if you already have hyper acid secretion or reflux and/or bile reflux etc.... I would consult professionals and/or do a lot of research before putting them into my system personally, even though they say some 'reflux' LIKE symptoms are actually from lack of acid -- I would want to be sure I am in the right category before putting them into my mouth if I am having problems or have a history of documented positive PhProbe tests, ulcers, esophagitis, etc. etc. etc. - just my two cents worth of caution.
