Robyn,

I was traveling over the holiday and have been "catching up" on posts for the past couple of days. Have been reading yours - assuming you're the only "Robyn" that has joined the crowd - and wish to respond to several items.

In a previous post you mention moving to SC. I live north of Spartanburg, SC. If you happen to have moved to the Spartanburg area, I can recommend an excellent Doctor to do an endoscopy.

Having an endoscopy is a piece of cake. I’ve had one. Had them take some pictures while the scope was in my tummy. If I ever have to have another one, I’ll lobby hard for it to be done without sedation so I can watch one of the monitors.

You also mentioned being afflicted with Candida. A Candida albicans overgrowth can result from taking a course of antibiotics - such as you probably took for Lymes disease. Candida overgrowth can be a major source of all kinds of problems.

In her book "No More Heartburn" Dr. Sherry Rogers states this about Candida:

"Of all the viruses, bacteria, and parasites I've treated in over a quarter of a century, none holds a candle to Candida albicans and the secret damage this supposedly harmless yeast can do. Even though Candida can cause symptoms that mimic more diseases that all the rest of the uninvited guests to the body, it is still presumed by the medical majority to be a normal part of our intestinal flora...

"Once Candida takes over the gut, it inflames the gut wall provoking much of the gas, bloating, indigestion, alternating diarrhea and constipation, or pain that you may suffer. If the yeast inflames the lower esophagus or stomach, you have burning and heartburn. If the lining of the small intestine is inflamed, carrier, or transport, proteins are damaged, making it more difficult for the gut to absorb vitamins and minerals - with mysterious fatigue and new infections the possible result..."

There's more, but rather than trying to cover it here, more information about Candida albicans can be found via these links:

There is a website maintained by a lady that suffered for several years with Candida overgrowth. She was cured in 30 days via diet and some all natural dietary supplement pills. Her website address is:

http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/4966/index.html

I had symptoms of Candida overgrowth - especially newly developed food allergies. I wasn't tested for Candida, but since the program's diet is easy to follow and the dietary supplement pills are all natural and available "off the shelf," I just went on the program. I can eat anything now and not suffer - food allergies are all gone.

You mention having taken Xanax and having withdrawal symptoms. If you don't mind my asking, how slowly did you taper off the level of Xanax you were taking? I was taking 1.5 mg. per day. Am now slowly tapering off - will take at least 4 or 5 months, maybe longer to taper off.

I was prescribed Xanax about the same time my Candida eradication program was ending. Within a week, my GERD problem was pretty well resolved and I've been feeling very good for 8 months now. Was my GERD caused by Candida or anxiety? Probably both as well as some other things. BTW - an anxiety problem can be caused or magnified by Candida overgrowth.

I pray and hope you find the cause and cure for your problem soon.

Hallsy
