Hi Eric, I just wanted you to know that there are *some* doctors who recognize the relationship between cardiac symptoms and reflux. I'm lucky enough to have a GI doc who does! While my heart palps are different from what you experience, they are there. Mostly, what I get is a racing heart when my GERD is acting up. It can last for days. My heart just pounds. And, if I try to do any physical activity it just gets worse. Once my flare up calms down then my heart rate is normal. I went on for years with this without mentioning it to my GI doc. I went for cardiac workups. Cardiologist said, "yes, you have sinus tachycardia" but it is harmless. Finally on one of my recent follow ups with GI doc, I told him what had been going on for years. He actually gave it a very long, technical name which I've forgotten. Some sort of tachycardia though. He said that for those of us with irritated esophagus, the acid stimulates nerves that run to the cardiac area and the broncial area (I also get shortnes of breath). So, at least someone admitted to it and that made me feel better. Christine
