Hi Robyn, what you're feeling is completely understandable. But believe me the anxiety leading up to the scope is actually much worse than the procedure itself. It helped me to keep concentrating on the fact that after the scope I would at long last have a definitive diagnosis of what had been causing me so much pain for so long. That helped a bit.
My doctor had NO bedside manner, and we actually had an argument right before the scope because I did not want sedation! I was a ball of nerves. My blood pressure was so high because of the anxiety they almost didn't do the scope. Anyway, once they began I was much better. I can honestly say it was more 'unpleasant' than scary. And it's quick as can be. And I am a big baby about all things medical....almost passed out from the flu shot! My thoughts are with you, but really you'll see it's no where near as bad as it sounds.
