I went on prilosec in December for throat problems caused by reflux. It was working fine for five months then seemed to stop working. I then tried protonix which worked for 2 months now it is no longer working. I constantly feel like I have a lump in my throat! I have had an endoscopy which showed a very red throat and I have been to an ENT who saw very swollen vocal cords. I had a motility test and was told my LES pressure was 14 (not great but not terrible). The technician said the esophogus muscles were behaving like they had acid on them . My question is if anyone else had good results with PPI's but then they stopped working for them? I am on 80mg on protonix a day which I think is a pretty strong dose. Thanks for your help...I feel like this problem is beginning to control my life. I worry about choking and breathing problems.
