Yes, I've had experience with PPIs not failing to continue to work! Eight years ago, I started treating my GERD with Prilosec. After two years, my symptoms returned and I changed to another PPI. Recently, I had to switch again and tried Nexium which helped a bit. The Dr. said to double the dose (40 mg. taken twice a day). I did that and had a reaction--a flushed face. Now I'm on the "last PPI." I'm taking Prevacid (30 mg. twice a day) with modest results for my recently scoped ulcerated esophagus. My doctor said that having to change meds. or having meds. not work is not unusual.
By the way, thanks, Hawk, for this message board. It has been very helpful to me and I pray for all of you suffering out there.
