You should absolutely call back and talk with the doctor if you are unhappy. But yes, I've been told the older antibiotics are easier on the stomach because it is less medicine at one time. The newer drugs like Cipro are only once a day, and they kill my stomach--even before I had GERD.
Also, ask if there is any way to get around your stomach entirely. For example, could they give you a daily injection for a few days, if you really need the antibiotic? That form might be better for you.
