My GI consultant has just give me a discharge from the hospital out-patients after al the tests i have had firstly upper gi endoscopy showing a sliding hiatal hernia followed by a 24 pH test showing that i am 6% worse than a normal non gerd sufferer. That i need only to go on to anti-depressants for a year or so with a combination of mild PPI's .I left the hospital totally confused/let down by the consultant as i only have to be of PPI's for 4 days when the sore throats and mucous attack again. My questions are: is my pH results not serious enough for a Nissen Fundo(which he does'nt recommend)HAs anyone else been told to go on anti-depressants (by the way i'm not not in any way depressed)and the thought of being on PPI's for the rest of my life is quiet daunting. Can any one shine any light on my problem?...
