Thank You Julie,

I know there've been many who've had great success with surgery. Your results, from reading your posts, are no exception. Congratulations! However, like all invasive surgeries there are those "extra things" that are compromised , albeit, gladly over the alternatives such as the horror of GERD related maladies. One of the things that is fairly common (don't know the %age) is the fact perastalsis will become unstable or neutralized. This inablility to swallow easily will cause the stricture feeling or "lump" in the Upper Esophageal Sphincter (right about where the 'adams apple' is....+ or - a few cm) This was one of the things that really use to bother me when I was suffering badly from GERD. It would make me think all kinds of evil thoughts, like "I've read where a heart attack starts with a pain in the throat or neck, and I can't breathe properly"......ad nauseam until it was one of the symptoms that would throw me into one of my infamous panic attacks.

Take care Julz!

Geary
