The "Lump" is damage to the throat caused by acidic reflux and can cause hoarseness, laryngitis, sore throat or globus sensation(a tightness in the throat that is akin to the sensation people have when they are about to cry). Laryngeal malignancy should be ruled out prior to ascribing throat symptoms to gerd.
