A disfunctional gall bladder can cause GERD symptoms.
The gall bladder can be checked with a relatively simple abdominal ultrasound which would show stones or sludge and can sometimes reveal inflammation of the gallbladder (acute cholecystitis) or blockage of the common bile duct. Another test is the hepatobiliary (HIDA) scan that tests the level of function of the gall bladder. I've had both tests and they are a "piece of cake." The worst thing was having to lie on a thinly padded bench for 90 minutes during the HIDA scan.
As for home remedies, I've seen several liver / gall bladder flushes posted on different websites and written about in books. However, I would not perform a home remedy gall bladder flush without first having at least an abdominal ultrasound - and if stones or sludge is found, consult with my Doctor instead. If a stone were to be flushed out of the gall bladder and become lodged in the common bile duct it could cause more problems, including pancreatitis.
Here's a link to WebMD (if you haven't already explored gall bladder problems there) about gall stones, tests, treatments, etc.
