GERD is a chronic,relapsing condition.A MAJORITY of people with GERD rarely or NEVER have HEARTBURN.The individuals with "classic" symptoms are only "the tip of the iceberg"!Any doc who insists on an abnormal endo to "make" the diagnosis is uninformed,out of date and just plain ignorgant.If your body is good enough at protecting you aginst the hydrochloric acid (very harsh HCl with pH LESS than 1 on a scale 0 to 14) by leaking tissue fluids,swelling,making mucus,etc. then you DO NOT GET HEARTBURN!!!Check the work of Ronnie Fass MD.HIGH DOSES of the acid blockers(PPI's) may be the best way to establish the diagnosis.More on the next post!
