Continuing on gerd...The real problem in MOST GERD ios not the acid...it's the VALVE at the bottom of the food tube not being able to contain the stomach contents within the stomach.The valve fails(FOR WHATEVER REASON)and the stomach contents regurgitate back into the food tube.If they are less acid they are less harsh.All the other symptoms are the result of the body protecting itself from serious harm due to the escaped "stomach juice".There are debates about how FAR the escaped "juices" travel,but the real issue is the FACT that THE VALVE FAILED(in medical parlance it's called the lower esophageal sphincter i.e.LES). This reflux is a huge cause of SINUS problems that are almost completely unrecognized except by the most enlightened ENT docs.What I'm telling you is not speculation...it's documented,but only acknowledged by the most on the edge docs(like the ones who have it themselves or whose own kid has it etc)...hope this helps...good luck!
