Not everything is treated with just a PPI. Diet is one important treatment and god for bid something else was going on that needed further treatment. Just taking a PPI isn't going to cure you say for instance you have an ulcer, or perhaps an overgrowth of bacteria. You would want to know "exactly" what is going on so that you know what to "Avoid" and what you need to start doing to prevent further complications! That's good enough reason for an endoscopy. Don't think that PPI's are the answer to everything. It's a very simple procedure as well.
