I think discussing this with your doctor is the key. When I had my endoscopy I remember every detail. I could walk a straight line afterwards and did not need any assistance at all. Feel I could have driven home, but I had a ride. I have had allergies to drugs and so the doc did not want to give me too much. I think I had Valium. I too am phobic of being "out-of-it." Others have been so drugged that they don't even remember having the endoscopy.
