Knot-like symptom in lower chest area, diaphragm area

I get what feels like a knot in the lower chest area (it is not my heart) around the diaphragm and it feels like a good burp or an untwisitng of the muscle would release it. It is very uncomfortable and I have tried Tums, Mylanta, etc. with little impact. It lasts for six hours or so and then goes away. It started last June and I seem to have episodes every two weeks or so. Any idea on what I have? What I should do?
