Hi Lisa,
I understand your phobia. What they use is "Conscious (sp) Sedation", you won't be put all the way out, but the Versed they use has an "Amnesiac" effect, so you won't remember anything about the procedure and many people actually fall asleep during the procedure. Hope this helps ease your fears. ;-)
