I had my gb removed 2 months ago. My tests kept coming back normal so the doctors told me it couldn't be my gb. The gastroenterologist told me since it couldn't be my gb he was going to treat me for irritable bowel(!). I continued to get worse and finally a surgeon agreed to remove it and it was diseased. I have also been treated for GERD but mine is not as bad as many of the people posting here. I'm not on any medication for it right now although I was on Prevacid but was experiencing too many bad symptoms so I stopped taking it. With my gb, I had pain under my right ribcage, in my right side, and in my right shoulder blade. I was extremely nauseous and ate nothing but crackers alot of the time. Fatty foods didn't really bother me either- that is as far as fried foods, etc. BUT icecream made me very sick (awake all night rolling around in the bed I felt so bad)and I couldn't eat corn- a couple of hours after eating it I was in such severe pain I thought I'd die. If they treat you for GERD and you don't feel like you're getting any better then you may want to be persistent with your doctor and ask about a test to check your gb. I had to almost throw a fit in order to get sent to a surgeon for a second opinion because since the tests were normal, the other doctors made me feel like I was making it all up. Anyway, the pain is now gone and I feel 100% better. Hope this helps!
