Anyone with Barrett's, did you or do you have a history of heavy alcohol consumption? I have been a drinker since I was about 15. Then I went to Chico State (that should say a lot right there) Since about 19, I would classify as "heavy" drinker. I am trying to get to the source of my current demise, and figure out if I did it to myself. I have a theory: since alcohol relaxes the LES, and contributes to heartburn, drinking from the age of 15, during body development, halted the development of a fully functional LES. Like the alcohol has permanently relaxed the LES. Even after bouts of not drinking for weeks, it doesn't seem to "function", according to the multiple manometry tests. I am being forced to cut back or out on the alcohol due to my upcoming redo Nissen, and am doing a lot of soul searching. But red wine and martinis are such good things :-(
