Hi, I'm 32, male and generally fit and active. I have developed bad heartburn over the course of the past week (to the extent that I have avoided eating almost anything becasue of the pain involved in eating). The heartburn is accompanied by a constant and uncomfortable sensation of something being lodged in the oesophogus right behind my solar plexus. This most notivceable when I swallow but is there all the time. There is quite a lot of burping involved as well and this is painful.

I have a family history of hiatus hernia - does this sound like hiatus hernia, if not can you say what it migth be?
