A Toupet procedure is a type of partial Nissen. It is probably better to refer to these operations as partial fundoplications. They are performed when there is reduced esophageal motility in an attempt to decrease difficulty swallowing after surgery. A Nissen involves creating a full, 360 degree wrap around the esophagus. The wrap in a partial fundoplication is typically between 180-270 degrees.
