Long Trem Use and Effectiveness of PPIs

I read with interest comments below about the long term use of Losec. Do all PPIs have the same "safety profile" or are your comments unique to Losec or Prilosec. Some Doctors prescribe this medication for 2 month durations only saying long term use is not recommended. The other products are Prevacid, Aciphex, and Pantoloc which is currently available in Canada. I would also appreciate your views on why some people report that one drug works for them while others don't. Is this possible given the drugs all work in the same manner. Is it a Pepsi vs. Coke scenario or are there real differences.
