Have had what has been called heartburn for 20 months. starts when I am hungry, mostly on the left side of the chest often goes to my left shoulder and down the left arm. prilosec does not work. first endoscopy showed esophogitis, and some bile reflux (march 99) problem persists. heart tests all showed no problems. pepcid ac and carafate offer some relief. second endoscopy (march 00) showed only chronic inflammation in the antrum no h pilori.pain often goes to the back on the left. now mouth burns, with teeth covered with gunky stuff. on vegetarian diet. no coffee, alcohol, soda, orange juice. am on 60 mgm a day pepcid ac and carafate before bed (elevated) still wakeup 2 times during the night, pop another carafate and back to bed. even changed toothpaste. ultrasound done in aug 99 showed gallbladder full of stones according to the radiologist. he said that is not causing my symptoms. attempted manometry could not tolerate it. i am a 51 yearold female. i am concerned because maternal uncle (smoker) died of esophageal ca in his late 50s. am 20 lb overweight . i would appreciate hearing from a physician. thanks. prevacid does not work either. is this bile reflux or some atypical gall bladder problem? I would appreciate hearing from a physician
