Strange Sensation

I have this strange sensation that is located along the base of the rib cage just to the left of the sternum. It happens if I sit too long or I stretch. It is not painfull but I do not know what it is. I am overweight. Is this possibly an indication of a hiatial hernia. Should I be concerned about this sensation?
