Mitch, I wouldn't be worried about the hypochodriacal aspect at this point. What I see as facts are 1) you were diagnosed with GERD, and an attempt was made to treat it and 2) you had some unusual side effects, including a cardiac arrhythmia, which may or may not have been related to the drugs. Presumably you have at least one more follow-up appt with your doctor, and I would just try to paint as accurate a picture as you can of whats going on. Your second description of the chest sensation doesn't sound exactly like the first by the way - the part about the fluttering feeling is missing. The fluttering, if persistent, might be cardiac. The more steady pressure you describe in your second post would go along more with things like gas in the stomach, belching etc. None of it sounds immediately worrisome or dangerous, but I would mention it to your doctor at your next visit.
