I was diagnosed with GERD in late February. I had the reflux under control within a few weeks, and have not been bothered by it since, but my stomach got horribly messed up, and I am still living with this from day to day (since late Feb.). My appetite is not normal, I have "bloated" feelings, warm sensations, etc. My doctor agrees that it may be some form of gastritis, but I can't seem to get rid of it. I tested negative for the Helicobactor Pylori, have switched from Prevacid to Zantac, and continue to take DGL tablets (licorice extract), drink herbal tea, etc. I've done a barium swallow, ultrasound, colonoscopy, blood tests-- only thing left is probably the endoscope, but if they see inflammation they just want to treat it with the Proton Pump Inhibitors, and I believe the Prevacid is what contributed to this in the first place! Don't know if any of this sounds familiar, but if you're on a PPI, you might be suffering from the same thing I am.
