Re: Spasms?

It sounds like your symptoms are happening so rarely that I am uncertain whether Prilosec is appropriate . The spasms may be directly from the reflux disease or maybe from esophageal spasms. When symptoms occur so far apart, it is difficult to get down to the bottom of the problem. At first, I would only recommend antacids at the time of the spasms. If this did not help, I would recommend a 24-hour pH study to confirm that you're having daily reflux disease. Many patients have severe daily reflux but have only minimal symptoms. If this were the situation, I would recommend continuation of your Prilosec.
