At your young age and since you are having respiratory problems already, you would be a good candidate for laparoscopic fundoplication. I recommend that everybody have endoscopy at least within the last year prior to surgery. This is to make certain that esophageal cancer has not developed in the intervening period. She also undergo an upper G.I., 24-hour pH study, and esophageal manometry. If these tests to confirm reflux disease, and there are no significant contraindications to surgery, you can be considered for surgery.
