Can endoscopy impair the LES or motility?

After this procedure I developed much pain just under the sternum, pressing discomfort in chest that lasts for hours, increased sore throat and sensation that something was left in after the procedure. Im puzzled because my GERD symptoms were under control with diet and medication. Other than a mild sore throat I felt just fine. Its been almost 7 weeks since the procedure and I have been miserable.
