Hi everybody - thanks so much for the info. It has been very helpful. I'm just starting to get symptoms of heartburn and it's awful. Trying to change my eating habits. Would someone please explain what a Nissen is.... Thanks so much...

I know that a lot of doctors want to treat gastritis with the Proton Inhibitors (Prevacid and Prilosec). I tested negative for Helicobactor Pylori, but isn't there some sort of general anti-biotic that would help clear up this gastritis I have that simple does not want to clear up. I'm off the Prevacid (which I think may have actually CAUSED the gastritis), and am now on Zantac, which is much less "severe", but I'm not sure the Zantac will rid me of the gastritis, although I'm hoping it will help keep my reflux at bay now that I've had it under control for about eight weeks.
