i have been suffering for six months with excess acid causing horrible symptons such as high stomach pain and throat problems at the moment i have a horrible dry cough and nasty sore throat when swallwing i hav seen a gastro specialit and an ent speialist who havnt found any thing abnormal or nasty thank goodness also got chronic northherly wind i am taking nexium 40 mg and anti depressants (because of the acid caused by anxiety ) the medication dosnt help very much and i hat e the side effects can any one help.pat from manchester

Sorry you're having such a bad time of it. I know what you mean about antidepressants. My first bout with GERD started when I took Serzone. My mouth and throat burned so bad I thought I'd go crazy. Then I tried Zoloft. BAD heart palpitations. Then tried Buspar. That still gives me GERD. So, I'm outa luck, too, in that department. I can't even take vitamins because of the GERD.
It is very depressing and disheartening. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but I don't. If I ever come up with any, I'll mail you!! You're right, too. This board has been a lifesaver for me. Sometimes in the middle of the night when I'm so miserable, I get on here and I don't feel so alone then.
